Introducing the Heads

OusideHeadBlocks

Still working slowly on this print. Today I carved "negative" blocks for the four heads (two shown above) and added a bit more blue to begin to define the four characters. I want the forms to seem to be emerging from the emanations of the egg, so I don't want them to be too defined.

I want to come over and watch you work so badly sometimes. It is just so different than how I do it (I think) and I find it facinating.

The texture in your current work is amazing! I'm following every development with eager anticipation.

Hi m.lee,
I'm working by the seat of my pants on this one! Maybe someday you can come and watch - I'm just a two-hour car ride away from Boston. I hope to offer some classes once I get the new studio space set up.

Andy, thank you for the kind words. I'm enjoying the textures, too. I'm trying to find the more painterly qualities that I sometimes see in the woodblock work of Japanese artists.

The prints are developing a luminous quality. Lovely!

The subtlety in these is very appealing, Annie.

I'm not a woodblock artist, but followed a lead from the haiku site. You produce beatiful work. I love the Moracan one, and the photogrph that helped inspire it.
