One Block Down, Two to Go

LumbiniGoldBlock

This weekend I finished carving one of the three blocks I'll be using for the Lumbini / Buddha print. About half way through this block, in a fit of frustration and impatience, I told my partner Lynn "I'm never doing a print like this again!" She laughed. She knows, and so do I, that if I get another idea that requires this kind of intricate carving I most certainly WILL do this again!

Two more blocks to carve.

Great job! I love seeing blocks after they're carved but before they are printed. All those fresh carvings make your fingers itch to start printing! The texture of the terrain is going to come through so nicely on this one! I can't wait to see it!

I'm sure all the work will be worth it. It looks mahhhhvelous as a block. Looking forward to seeing the printed result.

my wordy word you do take on complicated carving projects don't you? i know how you feel - intricate carving can be such hell and it's so sloooooow.

Slooow it is! I was hoping to complete the print in time for Buddha's birthday (May 12), but that won't be possible.

Beautiful block - thanks for showing it to us before the ink changes it. I wonder how often, on multi-block prints, all the blocks work this well as abstracts in their own right...

Thanks Steve. Not every block looks this good on its own, but some of them definitely make me pause before I slather ink on them.
