Working Some Greens

WorkingTheGreens

More studio time this morning. It feels so great to be making progress on this print. Today I worked with the greens. Actually, I got these deep greens by printing blue on top of that yellowish azo green. I still want to develop these front elements a little more. I want them to be very dark so that the hills seem to glow in contrast.

In a few spots the wood grain is coming through in an appealing way:

Oh this is such a beautiful print, Annie. One of my favourites this year, I think. That close-up looks so textural. Lovely work!

Ellen, yes that middle hill does look like a weaving doesn't it? Amanda, thanks so much.

It's beautiful. I love the mountain textures. Your colors are so complex and lovely...

And on an utterly extraneous note, I love that the associational path from your title, "Working Some Greens," went like this: the collards still growing in my garden . . . cooking greens (YUM!) . . . Lynn (who else?) . . . your home . . . poring over carved micro-letters . . . . David's print (being framed as we speak) . . . this current piece. SO fun.
