I've been making woodblock prints long enough now that I'm beginning to see myself using certain images over and over again — my obsessions, I guess. Today's carving is a repeat of the Biblical Garden of Eden:
I used this motif in the upper left corner of American Bible Story to signify the European colonists’ feeling that North America was a new Eden:
In this new print, the focus will be more on the expulsion from the Garden. This will be an opener for one of four chapters in the book/series I’m currently working on, God Is Our Witness.
